From the time I was in high school here in POB, I have long wanted to work to be a positive difference in our community, and more specifically, our school district. While in college, I decided to get involved in local government after realizing how much more our local government affected us than the federal government. Following an internship with a local campaign, I went on to spend five years working in various roles for Assemblymember Chuck Lavine, culminating in serving as his director of community relations. In this capacity, I gained invaluable experience in public service and developed a passion to address the needs and concerns of our community.
My time working in government equipped me with a unique set of skills that I bring to my service on the Plainview-Old Bethpage Board of Education. I have honed my ability to navigate the intricacies of governance, build meaningful relationships with stakeholders, and communicate effectively. These skills have been instrumental in my efforts to advocate for students and families, prioritize transparency, and foster collaboration within our school district.
Since shortly after its inception, I have been actively involved with the Scott J. Beigel Memorial Fund, an organization created to honor the memory of Scott J. Beigel, a track teacher who heroically gave his life to save the lives of many students during the Parkland massacre. My work with the fund began in a volunteer capacity and has recently transitioned into an official role, deepening my commitment to its mission. As someone who has always cared deeply about school safety, working with Scott’s family to honor his legacy has further motivated me to prioritize the safety and well-being of students. This includes not only ensuring physical safety but also addressing the mental health challenges students face, especially those who have grown up in a world where school tragedies have become all too common. My involvement with the fund has strengthened my resolve to create an environment where every student feels secure and supported.
As a proud graduate of the Plainview-Old Bethpage school district, I am deeply committed to ensuring that every student has access to a high-quality education. Throughout my tenure on the board, I have championed inclusivity, equity, and self-accountability in decision-making. I believe in the power of education to transform lives and strengthen communities, and I am dedicated to creating a supportive learning environment where every student can thrive.
Collaboration is at the heart of my approach to governance. I value the input of students, parents, educators, and community members, and I strive to ensure that their voices are heard and valued in the decision-making process. Together, we address the diverse needs of our district and work toward a shared vision of a brighter future for all.
Beyond my board responsibilities, I am passionate about supporting local arts and culture initiatives. I believe in the transformative power of the arts to inspire creativity, critical thinking, and cultural understanding, enriching the lives of our students and community members alike.
In summary, my role on the Plainview-Old Bethpage Board of Education is driven by a steadfast commitment to serving our communityand advocating for the best interests of our students. I am dedicated to ensuring that every child has access to a high-quality educationand the opportunity to reach their full potential. Together, we are shaping the next generation of leaders and building a stronger, more vibrant future for our district.
