My Priorities

I am a strong advocate for providing diverse educational pathways for our students. By supporting CTE programs, we ensure that students are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in both college and career, contributing to our community’s economic prosperity. I hope to continue serving as we navigate the new graduation requirements being implemented by the Board of Regents that will expand CTE in a more meaningful way.

Collaborative governance is fundamental to effective leadership. I advocate for a culture of mutual respect and cooperation among fellow board members, administrators, educators, and stakeholders. By working together, we can address the challenges facing our district and find innovative solutions that benefit all students. I am especially proud of the work the Board of Education has done to create an annual legislative breakfast with our local elected officials.

I am deeply committed to fostering inclusivity and celebrating the cultural diversity within our community. This includes advocating for important documents to be made available in various languages for families who speak English as a second language, ensuring that all families can fully engage with our school system. By promoting cross-cultural understanding and celebrating our community’s rich tapestry of cultures, we prepare our students to thrive in an interconnected world.

I believe in responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars within our school district. It’s essential to carefully manage our resources to ensure they are used effectively and efficiently. I am dedicated to finding the right balance between meeting the needs of our students and being mindful of financial constraints, maximizing the value of every dollar spent.

One of my core objectives as a school board member is to cultivate the next generation of leaders who are not only academically proficient but also possess the empathy, integrity, and vision needed to navigate the complexities of our changing world. I believe in providing our students with opportunities to develop critical thinking skills, engage in meaningful dialogue, and embrace diverse perspectives. By fostering an environment that encourages collaboration and creativity, we prepare our students to be future-ready.

Supporting the social-emotional well-being of our students is paramount. I prioritize initiatives that address mental health and provide necessary support and resources for students to thrive academically and personally. We have seen significant challenges due to the once-in-a-generation pandemic in students’ ability to socialize and mature emotionally. Through the incredible team the district has assembled, I am optimistic about our progress in this area.
